Summary
Â
Finish: The finish has been over-sprayed.
Top Material: Spruce
Body Material: Rosewood
Neck Material: Mahogany
Fingerboard Material: Brazilian Rosewood
Neck Profile: medium, soft "V"
Neck Thickness (IN): 1st- .86" 10th- 1.01"
Fingerboard Radius: 16.00"
Nut Width: 1-3/4"
Scale Length: 25-2/5"
Hardware: The tuners are original. The nut, saddle, bridge pins and end pin have been replaced. A strap button has been installed in the neck heel.
Modifications / Repairs: Based upon tool marks inside the body and the shape of the shoulders on the back side of the body, this guitar appears to have had a "California Neck Reset" at some point. This means that the binding was removed and back of the body was loosened from the sides (only in the shoulder area) and the heel block slipped back change the neck angle. The back would then have been trimmed shorter (thus the slightly misshapen shoulders on the back) and then reattached to the sides. The binding was reglued in this area. There are small veneer strips added to the base of the heel block to cover this repair. This is an antiquated method of resetting a neck that is no longer used. In addition to this and probably unrelated, the fingerboard has been re-glued, and the guitar has been over-sprayed. The nut, saddle, bridge pins and end pin have also been replaced. A strap button has been installed in the neck heel (which caused a small crack to form). This crack in the neck heel has been repaired. This is stable and not affecting playability. This guitar has been refretted.
Case Details: Original Hardshell Case with green interior.
Cosmetic Condition: The guitar is in very good condition for its age. The finish is intact with checking and light dents and scratches throughout. The back of the body has light buckle rash and there is considerable play wear on the back of the neck.
Serial Number: 185969
Tech Notes: The guitar plays well with low action. The frets are narrow with medium height and minimal play wear. The serial number dates to 1962.
